1. Can I keep the old computer?

No.  The equipment will be uplifted and processed through the University's secure recycling program by the IT Support Technician at the time of installation.  This is for software licensing and data protection compliance.


2. Can I get a Desktop PC instead of a Laptop PC?

No.  For a number of reasons the University has adopted a mobile computing solution as standard.  There is no performance impact in having a Laptop PC, but these devices are more efficient and offer portability if required.


3. Can I upgrade the specification of laptop?

Yes.  However, the School or Department will need to cover any additional costs above that of the standard offering.


4. Can I have administrator rights?

No.  The University uses Least Privilege for Cyber Security and Data Protection compliance.


5. I am having problems backing up my files.  Can you help?

Yes.  Absolutely.  If you are experiencing difficulties setting up OneDrive backups, please let us know and we can assist.
