SCOPE
This article provides guidance on setting up your University Owned and Managed Android device.
Enrol Your University Android Device
Prerequisites
- Although the handset is likely to have some charge in it, it is recommended that you connect to a power source via the cable provided with it.
- The full enrolment process can take between 30-60 minutes and is dependent on wireless connectivity speeds.
- You will need to have completed your MFA setup and have access to a means of authentication.
Out of the Box Setup
- Power on the handset.
- At the Welcome Screen, click Start.
- Select Language.
- Agree to End User License Agreement.
- You will now need to connect the device to a Wi-Fi network.
If on campus, please use Eduroam (see guide here, start from Step 4).
- Once connected, click Next.
- You will see a couple of screens displayed, including Updating Knox Enrolment Service and Getting ready for work setup...
- Select Agree when you see the Set up a work profile screen.
- You will see a couple of screens of information as the handset is Setting up your work profile…
- Select Accept & continue at the Welcome to Chrome screen.
(You can leave the box ticked or untick it)
University Work Profile Setup
- You will land on a Microsoft Sign in page.
- Enter your email address. [email protected] (ie. [email protected])
- Input password and authenticate when prompted.
- Click Install.
- Once complete, click Done.
- Click Set up.
- You will be presented with an Intune sign in page.
- Click SIGN IN
- Enter password and authenticate again.
- Once done, you will at the the Univeristy of Aberdeen, Set up University of Aberdeen access page.
- Follow the onscreen guidance to Register your device and Choose device category
- You should soon find yourself at the devices home screen.
- At this point, the handset will check to see if there are any system updates, and install them if required.
- It will also begin downloading and installing applications for use in the Work Profile.
- This can take a while, and you will need to be patient whilst it finalises these steps.
