Background:

The current instructions in the readme file, along with the patch, are rather technical from IBM, and you are expected to know where to find all the necessary folders to replace the file.

 

A simplified version of these steps has been produced below:

 

The interim fix contains a new 'libplatdep.dylib' file.  Your task is to find the old file under the SPSS Statistics application bundle and replace it with this new file. 

 

How to install the IBM SPSS Fix 
  
 Click the Finder app — it looks like a blue and white face and is located in your Dock. 
 


Select Applications in the left sidebar. 



Search for SPSS in the list of applications as follows: 

  • Navigate to the 'IBM' folder.  
  • Navigate to the 'SPSS' folder. 


Right-click the SPSS Statistics.app bundle and select "Show package contents"


 


  • Click into the Contents and then the lib folder.  
  • Now, find the 'libplatdep.dylib' file.





  • Move this file someplace else (like to your Desktop). Don't leave it in this location. 
    • You can always right-click and compress the file before dragging it to your desktop and deleting the current file in the location. 
  • Go to the folder created when you extracted the Interim Fix Zip file.Go to the folder created when you extracted the Interim Fix Zip file.

          
 



  • Move the 'libplatdep.dylib' file to the "SPSS Statistics.app/Contents/lib" folder you saw previously. 
  • Once it has copied over close all windows 
  • Launch SPSS Statistics .
