This fact sheet provides guidance for University staff and students who want to extend their license for ArcGIS 10.X on a Windows computer, off campus.
If you see a license expiry notice when opening the software, follow the instructions below to extend your license. Please note that the version you download may be different than the version depicted.
The ArcGIS Administrator Wizard opens automatically if your license needs renewing.
To extend your license
- Select Advanced (ArcInfo) Single Use and then click Authorize Now. (*If it does not launch automatically, you can launch it from Start Menu>All Apps>ArcGIS>ArcGIS Administrator. Select Desktop, Advanced (ArcInfo) Single Use and click Authorize Now).
Select I have installed my software and need to authorize it, and then click Next.
3. Select to Authorize with Esri now using the Internet, and then click Next.
4. Complete the Authorization Information form as shown below, and then click Next.
5. Continue entering the required authorization information;
- Organization: Education-Staff/Faculty or Student
- Your Industry: Higher Education Yourself:
- Your current role
- Then click Next.
6. Input the code ESU716888738, and then click Next

- Select I have authorization number(s) to authorize one or more extensions
- Copy the SAME ESU CODE, ESU716888738, into each box
- Click Next.
8. You will be presented with a screen confirming that your software is now authorized. Click Finish.
9. Finally, you will be returned to the ArcGIS Administrator screen. Click OK. You can now close the setup screen.
10. To check that your extensions are turned on, start ArcMap and from the menu, navigate to Customize --> Extensions and tick the boxes to ON.
