This guidance is for Postgraduate Taught and Undergraduate students only:
- On Personal Devices

Important to note:
- You should only follow below guidance where you will be using Mathematica for student-based study/course work.
- If you wish to carry out an academic research project and hope to publish, you MUST use the staff version. See guidance here.
1. On Personal Devices:
- Create a new account here, on the Wolfram Mathematica web site, using your university email address (e.g., [email protected])
(Please note, this web site is independent of the University of Aberdeen)
- Click on Create one – as shown below (in red text - do not try to sign in):
- You will receive an email from Wolfram.com asking you to confirm your email . You must do this. If you don’t see this in your Outlook inbox, please check you Junk Email folder in Outlook:
- Wolfram will then provide you with a temporary licence and a link for you to click on to access the software. Initially, this access will last for up to 2 weeks.
- The University will be asked to confirm your license.
- Once the University confirms your license, it will last until the end of your course.
- You must download the correct installer for your operating system (Mac, Windows, or Linux) to your Downloads folder and run it from there.

2. Classroom Devices
- You can access Mathematica in our classrooms.
3. VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure)
- Mathematica is also available on the VDI.
